I was relieved to learn that Ryerson U. decided not to expel the first-year engineering student over the use of Facebook as a study group. While the study group was technically in violation of the instructor’s class policy, the students had different assignments and no answers were posted to the study group. Using Facebook as a study hall was innovative. Let’s use the tools – whether they be in person or virtual study groups.
